Due to a possible funding lapse for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as SNAP, the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District (SMMUSD) will host a free food support program for District families Nov. 3–7 from 4-5 p.m. daily in the Santa Monica High School (Samohi) parking lot.
Each family will receive one meal bag per child in the household. The meal bags will provide dinner and will be available each day while supplies last. Families should enter through the Olympic Boulevard gate (located at 6th and Olympic Boulevard), where staff will assist; there is no need to park or exit vehicles. Please see the attached map for the event location.
On Tuesday, Nov. 4, all SMMUSD elementary schools will be closed. Families are encouraged to take advantage of free food resources available to Santa Monica residents that day. A list of free community food programs is available here. Dinner meal bags will still be distributed at Samohi that evening from 4-5 p.m.
This program is open to all SMMUSD families. No additional questions will be asked, and volunteers are not needed.
Santa Monica’s first marketplace for entrepreneurs is now open and giving small businesses a real opportunity to grow in a sustainable and community-forward way.
